Before American Best Garage Door come out to your home to install your new garage door, there are a few of things we would like you to keep in mind.

Garage Preparation

Do you have a broken down car, motorcycle, basketball hoop, bicycles, boxes or a lot of “stuff”laying around in your garage? Our installer will need a great deal of space to move about safely and install your garage door.

American Best kindly asks that before an installer comes out to your home that you make sure there is sufficient room in and around your garage for your garage door installation to happen.

If we have to put on our “movers hat”  it can slow down the actual garage door installation time, which may result in additional billing.  As the old saying goes, “Time Is Money!”

Final Installation Process

American Best Garage Door requests that the homeowner to be present during the final garage door installation process so that  any issues or concerns regarding the installation can be pointed out. At that time, our service technician will present the homeowner with their garage door owners manual, explain the features of their new garage door and make sure that everything is installed and functioning to their complete satisfaction!

Important Considerations When Looking for New Garage Doors

You may not realize it, but garage doors are extremely important to your home’s appearance, market value, and its security as well. They greatly affect the home’s curb appeal and can keep out intruders, since this area of the home is a favorite spot for thieves to enter.
When you’re in the market for new garage doors it’s good to take that time to consider your options and to think about upgrading, whether that means appearance or safety features. Even if your current door and entry system is acceptable, you may want to think about making changes for the sake of curb appeal or make it easier on everyone in general. Today’s garage doors are typically made of better materials that make them strong but lightweight, and remote openers can be small enough to carry on a key chain also making them convenient.
Here are some considerations for those in the market for new garage doors, or for when you want to improve your home’s curb appeal overall.
Choosing a Style

Gone are the days when garage doors were just slabs of metal and a handle. Today they come in a wide range of styles and colors and are meant to truly complement your home’s exterior décor and even the landscaping. Because typically garage doors can be seen from the street and are so prominent, they are now often designed to be attractive or at least as neutral as possible.
When you’re in the market for new garage doors or want to do something to spruce up your home’s exterior appearance, give some thought to the style and color. Some look like carriage houses and others may have very distinct hardware, such as oversized hinges and handles that make them look attractive as well as being functional. A few windows in your garage doors can make them seem more welcoming and inviting, as opposed to solid steel or metal which may simply look unsafe and cold.
If you’re not sure of a style for your garage doors, consider something more neutral and in a color that complements your home. A bright white can make the home seem clean whereas a warm beige can give it a homey feeling.
Adding Function

Adding new garage doors can mean adding additional functions and features such as upgraded security features, lighting, and various types of openers. You may feel that what you have now is sufficient but think of how much easier it will be on everyone if you had a better opener that can be carried on a key chain or that is more subtle than the large box you have clipped to your car’s visor. Adding security features to your garage doors can also make you feel better about having your children home alone after school, knowing that the house is more secure from intruders. Take your home to shop these features and speak to a sales representative about how they can help your home and your family overall.
